Reading have made their first signing of the summer - bringing in Shrewsbury midfielder Josh Laurent.
Laurent, 25, joins the Royals after leaving Shrewsbury when his contract expired. He spent the last two years at the club, and has signed a two year deal to become Mark Bowen's first summer signing.
Bowen told Reading's website, “Josh fits the mould as a hungry, vibrant, energetic young midfielder who I am sure will make an impact at Madejski Stadium. A box-to-box style midfielder, Josh is a talented player whose career I have been tracking for some time, so I am delighted to now welcome him to the club.”
Laurent first caught the eye of a host of Championship clubs, including Reading, after a brilliant performance against Liverpool in the FA Cup in late January.
However Reading have managed to fight off reported interest from fellow Championship clubs Cardiff, Swansea and Stoke to claim his signature.
