Coalville 1-2 Alfreton: Alfreton see off Coalville comeback to progress in FA Cup

A late fight back from Coalville wasn't enough as Alfreton make their way through to the third qualifying round of the FA Cup with a 1-2 win.

The Reds opened the scoring in the second minute, when Coalville failed to clear from a free kick and Dominic Smith was there to score their first goal of the season.

Under twenty minutes later, history repeated itself yet again as the Ravens failed to clear and Jake Day opened his Alfreton account with a debut goal.

Coalville pushed for the rest of the game and thought they were going to be rewarded for their efforts, when Billy Kee was clipped inside the box. However he failed to convert, seeing his penalty saved.

Coalville then managed to get a goal just two minutes later, as Tim Berridge managed to break free into the box and fire past Willis in the bottom corner.
