Reading hammer Luton to maintain unbeaten run

Updated: Jan 7, 2020

Reading secured a 3-0 win against Luton town to maintain their unbeaten run.

A dominant performance from Reading secured all three points against a Luton side who hadn't won their last three games prior to the game.

Reading started the game positively, with Luton trying to press them high up the pitch and posing a threat on the counter, however not showing enough quality to score. Reading then made the breakthrough in the a 22nd minute, when a corner was whipped in and Michael Morrison got the highest and nodded into the top left corner. Reading then followed that up eight minutes later, when Liam Moore played Ovie Ejaria down the left hand side, before he cut in onto his right foot and struck the ball into the bottom right corner.

Luton came out brightly in the second half, dominating possession, but Reading were still on top, the best of the chances however was when John Swift blazed over the bar from 25 yards out. But before long, Reading made it three. Garath McCleary dispossessed Luton at the back and slotted past the keeper to make it a convincing win for the Royals.

This win makes Reading unbeaten in ther last four, and brings then up to 17th in the table, five points clear of the relegation zone. Luton however remain in the fight to stay up, positioning themselves in 20th, one point clear of the drop zone.

After the international break, Reading face Brentford at Griffin Park, while Luton face high flying Leeds at home.
