Reading come back twice to snatch a point at QPR

Updated: Oct 23, 2019

Reading came back twice to snatch a draw away at high flying Queens Park Rangers.

Queens Park Rangers took the lead in the 29th minute through Nakhi Wells after George Puscas lost possession cheaply to Eberechi Eze, who drew two centre backs, leaving Wells free on the edge of the box, giving him enough time to rifle it into the bottom left corner. Two minutes after, Reading reacted, with Ovie Ejaria winning the ball back in Reading's half and playing a delightful ball through QPR's defence to find George Puscas, who ran onto it, took a touch, and finished calmly into the bottom right-hand corner. In the second half, QPR took the lead once more with Nakhi Wells heading to Jordan Hugill, who muscled off Matt Miazga and shot, only for it to go the other direction of the Reading keeper Rafael after it deflected off Liam Moore. Reading then responded again, with John Swift spraying a pass to the edge of the six-yard box, who nodded the ball into the centre for Sam Baldock to smash home his first goal since December last year.

Some may say Reading were unlucky to get a draw, but Andy Yiadom and Matt Miazga were on the contrary. Matt Miazga was involved in a tussle with Angel Rangel, where it appeared that Matt Miazga had thrown a hand at him while pushing up after a QPR attack, and then he could have also received his marching orders after throwing Jordan Hugill to the floor late on in injury time. Andy Yiadom could have also been sent for an early bath after he appeared to have his arm out in an unnatural position and had appeared to have handballed it inside the area, however it was waved away by referee Jeremy Simpson.

It's Mark Bowen's first point away from home as Reading manager which keeps them in 20th, two points clear of the relegation zone going into Wednesday night's action.

Meanwhile, QPR move up to 4th in the table. Reading's next game is away at promotion chasers Nottingham Forest, while QPR take on London rivals Brentford at the Kiyan Prince Foundation stadium on Monday evening.
