Four Championship clubs chase Charlton keeper

Charlton goalkeeper Dillon Phillips is attracting interest from numerous Championship clubs.

Cardiff, are said to be favourites, with Derby, Huddersfield and Middlesbrough also said to be interested.

Dillon Phillips was a crucial player for Charlton as they got relegated from the Championship, playing every minute this season, keeping nine clean sheets.

But Charlton manager Lee Bowyer has admitted he wouldn't be surprised if he left, saying "If someone comes for Dillon then, with the club’s state at the moment, are you telling me they are not going to sell him - of course they will,” In my opinion,

Analysis

In my opinion, Derby have to try and get Phillips in. They are in desperate need of a goalkeeper, with Ben Hamer returning to Huddersfield, and Kelle Roos not good enough at this level. Derby have the potential for top 6 next season, and goalkeeper is somewhere they need to improve urgently.

Huddersfield will be in need of a goalkeeper with Jonas Lossl and Kamil Grabara returning to Everton and Liverpool respectively, but with the returning Ben Hamer, who has struggled and received heavy criticism towards the end of the season for Derby, so they may look to get him off their books. However, they do have Ryan Schofield, who has returned from a loan deal at Scottish Premiership side Livingston, and has recently had his deal extended for another year.

Middlesbrough may also look at getting an experienced replacement for Aynsley Pears, as he also does not quite look ready yet for this level. I do not think Cardiff need a goalkeeper as they already have two top quality goalkeepers for this division with Alex Smithies and Neil Etheridge.
